Born in Philadelphia, State Representative Marguerite Quinn moved to Doylestown at age 8 and has spent most of her
life as a resident of Bucks County.
After attending local schools and graduating as Valedictorian from Archbishop Wood High School in 1981, Marguerite
received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Relations from St. Joseph’s University in 1985. Following her
graduation from St. Joe’s, Marguerite spent two years volunteering as a teacher in American Samoa and began an
adult life committed to helping those around her.
Marguerite considers her self a citizen legislator, never having held publicly elected office before her election
in 2006, and she brings a unique perspective to the General Assembly as a wife, mother and professional woman.
Before being elected to the General Assembly, Marguerite worked as a licensed Realtor and marketing professional,
and she continues to serve as a volunteer for her church, local community groups and in her children’s schools.
Her experiences helping others, through her volunteer work and her career, inspired Marguerite to seek elective
office two years ago, and she remains committed to serving her Bucks County neighbors as she seeks a second term
as Representative of the 143rd Legislative District.
As a member of the General Assembly, Marguerite has worked hard to represent the people of her district in a way
that reflects Bucks County values, priorities and goals. She has fought to control government spending to keep it
more in line with inflation and the realities facing families in Bucks County. She has helped pass legislation
that protects the water we drink and the environment we enjoy. She supported measures to help residents of our
state seek energy efficiency and independence. She has been a strong advocate for providing quality health care to
all of Pennsylvania’s citizens and attracting and retaining doctors to provide that care. And, she remains committed
to fighting for a revised funding formula for education and meaningful property tax relief for all of our taxpayers.
Marguerite’s hard work has been recognized by several organizations during her short tenure in the General Assembly,
and she is proud to have their support. For her tireless efforts on behalf of our children and their schools,
Marguerite has been named the 2008 recipient of the Pennsylvania Middle School Association’s Advocate for Public
Education Award. As a role-model for girls and helping them learn that no dream is too big, Marguerite has been
recognized by the Girl Scout’s of Eastern Pennsylvania, who awarded her their Friend Award.
Additionally, Marguerite has had the honor of being named to the boards of several community organizations,
including: the CB Cares Board, Habitat For Humanity’s Women Build Advisory Board, and the Lenape Chamber Ensemble
Advisory Council.
Marguerite has also received the endorsement of a wide variety of organizations representing individuals from all
walks of life. These varied endorsements indicate her commitment to good governance and her rejection of partisan
politics. Her endorsements include: local and state Fraternal Order of Police Lodges, Farmers Allied for Responsive
More Efficient Representation, Associated Builders and Contractors, Pennsylvania’s AFL-CIO Executive Council, and
the Pennsylvania State Education Association.
Married to John, Marguerite has two teenaged daughters, Maggie and Carolyn, and three adult step-children, Liz,
Patrick and Christopher. John and Marguerite reside in Doylestown Township.
